Ok!!!…. Before I tell you what’s up with Ant-Man and why you MUST see this film! If, you are really a Marvel fan!.. No seriously… A Gawd’ Damned MARVEL FAN!!!
It is PHASE 5’s first film,.. do you NOT remember how crazy the last two segments have been with world/universe-swapping stuff. Well to tell this layer of a story you have to introduce the story in steps that can’t be too steep, and may not pay off till later (for your mind) but is that not truly more satisfying.

Though Majors has appeared in the MCU’s expanded universe in Loki, as He Who Remains, which is a fully different character from his Ant-Man 3 character, Kang the Conqueror. Who is the next big bad for the MCU, and the one thing that is a hard truth for the next phase is that though presented confusingly, Majors fully fills the boots of Kang the Conqueror in every way possible.

And I am not just writing this due to his Texas roots, but the layered way he seems to approach any of his characters. Which I am sure was the draw for Marvel casting Majors as Kang.

Returning to helm the grand little world of AntMan is Director, Peyton Reed (Yes Man, Bring It On), who directed the previous Ant-Man films and had the mammoth job of bringing this immense realm to the screen. But as I said to friends with the introduction of AntMan that this was the world seeing in 3-D.

The comedic stylings of Jeff Loveness (Rick and Morty, Miracle Workers) are on full display which is one of the funniest Marvel films to date. The craziness in the multi-verse of thought is a shared process between Rick & Morty’s world and the Quantum Realm.

Taking over the Cassie role is Kathryn Newton (Blockers, Supernatural) who more than adequately fills the Cassie boots, but it saddens me to think of what Emma Fuhrmann the Endgame elder Cassie, could have been. Fuhrmann’s subtle innocence was what I thought could have completed a launch for a truly unknown actress.

Newton, who excelled at Claire in Supernatural, does bring her witty strength to bear and is a great connection to the Rudd daughter dynamic. In many ways the Supernatural artistry of her character in the series as a reoccurring character in several seasons provided the delivery for what makes her good casting for the Cassie, lead.

In the first Ant-Man film the story was developed and the plot was run through Hank Pym, and Michael Douglas (Wallstreet, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest) characters but in this story, Janet, Michelle Pfeiffer (What Lies Beneath, Stardust) is the catalyst for the development of the story and the secondary hero.

Hope, Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit, Real Steel) strengthens her connection with Scott Lang through her relationship with Cassie. It does seem Hank has chosen to do so as well, possibly due to Cassie seeking out his shrinking scientific studies during the “Blip”.

This led to Cassie’s creation of a device that connects to the Quantum Realm in hopes that good can come of understanding, mainly so Dad or surrogate G-Ma don’t get lost for years, again.

The world of the Quantum Realm is vast and expansive to not even try to explain any part of what was created in only a few painted frames years ago in comics, and is in no way fair to try to explain the levels of the drugs they and I mean all these comic book artists, hippies and well hell Americans in the 60s and 70s when the heyday of the comics sold worldwide birthed into existence things like Kang, the Multiverse, and Thanos! And you watched that, … Right Down the Pipe!

You know you did, … so did I.

Well down in the Quantum Realm there is a whole world unknown to the Marvel audience and this film tries to explain the vast thought of infinite time, expansive realms, and thought processes. Creature and beings of an equally expansive process. That vastness can only be shown through a smear of every artistic advancement possible. I understand that’s not very clear, but you really must see some of this for yourself. It can at times be cliché to state that you should see this on the big screen, but I believe that in the case of Space, the Ocean and I would now add the Quantum Realm to that list.

Some of these new characters who help expand the universe through their character portrayals are William Jackson Harper (Midsommar, The Good Place) who lends that same Good Place wry humor to his Character Quaz. Portraying a battle-hardened leader of the current resistance against Kang is Jentorra brought to life by Katy M. O’Brian (Z Nation, Westworld).

The most cutting criticism I have about this film is in one specific area, I guess it would be called set design, though in a CG and a “Greenscreen World”, what CG set design is just full greenscreen. However, the backgrounds are vast and intense, way too much to take in with a single viewing.

Many other portions of the uniquely created Quantum Realm led to even more questions, like the structures.

Seriously how can you work for the MOUSE and not learn the lesson that you can’t have buildings that look like a penis! And these Buildings MOVE!
Really, guys, it’s taking the WE =(Disney + Marvel) aren’t rich I’M= (Marvel) Rich, thang a bit far?

All in all, there is a weirdness factor to the Quantum Realm that will take some getting used to for sure. Be open to the change and you will get a great story and more humor than expected.

Big new rule to Phase Five: … Kang is the new Big Bad, Get IT! A better bad guy, a better obstacle for the Heroes to overcome. And, …
No matter how much time may exist, you only have one life and should live it wisely.

Unless you’re doing something fun, but stupid, that will ultimately teach you a life lesson. Then you will learn, …
NO! Get to work! You only have —-1 LIFE, Make the most of what you got!

I’d say you should see AntMan & the Wasp: Quantumania it’s the most artistic and funny Tony Robbins’-esc pep-talk you will ever receive. Though this film may ultimately be panned by critics I feel that the MCU supporters will revile in the Dramedy nature of this Father/ Daughter dance for the Marvel universe.

Cause this is “The Empire Strikes Back”, “Back to the Future II, Matrix II: Retromachi… Something, … See you don’t even know their names!?

But that is this film! Is the awkward introduction to your stepmother, the foster dog that bites you, this is your future… Surprise!
But after you can unravel the parts of the glorious new introduction some of this new world can become better than you could ever know. And the parts you thought were lame are just riddles wrapped in fortune cookies, or that become the best Christmas cracker you ever had.

A step for Marvel into a film that is more Dramedy Thriller than its traditional action film is what awaits viewers of the newest installment to the Ant-Man world. The third stand-alone film AntMan & the Wasp: Quantumania nicely leaned to the comedic stylings of Paul Rudd (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, I Love You, Man). Rudd blends well with the overly dramatic nature of the acting styling of Jonathan Majors (Lovecraft Country, Devotion) in the titular role of the next phase’s big baddie.
